JOHN VANWAGENEN
John retired from Stora Enso Paper Mill in 2005. He is married and his hobbies include flying, aircraft building, woodcarving, and welding. "I like working with the kids at CFC because it's gratifying watching them take pride in something they built, as well as helping them forget their troubles, if only for a little while".
STAN CARLSON
Stan and his wife Ann are both retired professors from UWSP. Stan retired in 2004 and has been teaching wood carving classes for the last 12 years. His hobbies include skiing, basketball, and gardening where his organic vegetables are grown for himself and Operation Bootstrap. "I very much enjoy teaching the talented and interested students at the Fernandez School".
ARDEN LANGE
Arden is a dentist who retired in 2001. He and his wife Jean of 58 years have 7 children and 11 grandchildren. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, golf, walking, and watching the Packers. Arden is also a big fan of UWSP and SPASH basketball and has attended the state championship game for over 30 years. "Time spent at "Charlie's" School For Alternative Learning has been very rewarding for me. It's special to get to know the students and help them identify their skills and encourage them down life's paths. It has been a great experience to spend time in this place".
EDWARD M. BANCKER, JR.
Ed retired in 2000 after a 30 year career as an orthodontist in Stevens Point. Ed and his wife Penny of 48 years have 5 grown children and 13 grandchildren. They enjoy golf, skiing, hunting, and Florida. Ed also enjoys flying and spent 7 years building an airplane which he flew for 3 years and then sold. "I enjoy volunteering at CFC because it is especially rewarding to work with kids who need a boost and respond positively to adult influence. You can see and feel layers of doubt and uncertainty peel away as confidence and self esteem build over time".
